After all the games and singing, Krisie and Emily headed up our dental education with all the children. They started with a puppet show that talked about keeping your toothbrush clean.
Krisie and Siyanda (translating) talking about Krisie's job as a dental hygienist and how we look after our teeth.
Emily then took over telling the kids how to brush their teeth properly.
Greg showing how to brush teeth properly with a puppet.
Krisie demonstrating good technique with a puppet and Siyanda translating (lol!).
Jackie showed the kids exactly what we wanted them to do. First she got a pink pill that would dye her teeth pink. She had to chew it up.
Jackie chewing.
Her mouth is turning pink!
Scary pink teeth!!
Another pink mouth!
Then the kids all got toothbrushes that already had toothpaste on them. They were to brush their teeth and try to get rid of all the pink.
They had to swallow all the foam because we didn't have any place for them to spit or rinse. The kids all had a tiny mirror that they could use to see inside their mouths and see if they had gotten all the pink or if they were missing different places.
The kids LOVED it!!
All the girls showing off their clean teeth!!
All the boys showing off their clean teeth!
Happy smiles everywhere!
After the dental education, we still had some time left, so Dan got up and told a story to the kids. It was so great. About a little bird who sold her feathers, one by one, each day to a snake so that the snake would give her worms. Eventually she had no feathers left, and the snake ate her because he wasn't interested in her feathers to begin with. He only wanted to eat her the whole time. Dan related this to the devil and how he only wants bad for us. He will trick us anyway he can, but he really wants us dead. However Jesus wants to give us life. I'm probably leaving out part of this, but it was so great. He led the kids in prayer afterwards for any that wanted to ask Jesus to be their Savior. Voices all over the room echoed his prayer. It gave me goosebumps.
I sat with the boys the whole time with this little guy on my lap. He was so cute and was so good the whole time.
While we waited for taxi's to arrive we did some more songs, and taught the kids some sign language. This little girl led everyone in a song. Mikki taught the sign language. We even had teenagers that instantly memorized all the signs we showed them! It was unbelievable.
Needless to say, the floor did not stay clean. It got covered with dirt. Just as it should have!
