Sorry to have dropped off the face of the earth this week! Sunday was an awesome day that started with Dan leading us in a service on the beach at sunrise. Then there was packing to be done, and rental truck to be picked up at the airport. The whole team flew home on Sunday evening except John and I. We had already made arrangements to stay until Tuesday evening. So after the rental truck was gotten, we drove north 2 1/2 hours to a game preserve (11,000 acres) where we stayed Sunday and Monday nights. That was amazing! If you travel all the way to South Africa, you have to take the time to see the amazing wildlife. What an experience. I have tons of pictures, and I promise I will get them posted soon as well as pictures from our last few days of the trip that I just didn't have the time or energy to get on here at the time. I also have videos coming! I can't wait to share them all with you all who have been keeping up with our trip.
So we flew home Tuesday evening and arrived back in Detroit around 2:30pm on Wednesday. We fell asleep Wednesday evening around 7:30pm and I slept in till 7:30am. Yes that is 12 hours of dead to the world sleep!! I still can't believe that. John was not so fortunate as he woke up around 3:30am and couldn't get back to sleep. So we spent most of the day Thursday doing laundry and relaxing. Oh and eating! So happy to be back in the USA and enjoying food that we are used to, though it wasn't like we were eating insects or anything like that in SA! I think my stomach has shrunk because I am getting full so fast- I hope that sticks around!! lol!
John is back to work today, and then we pick up our kids tonight around 8:45pm in Detroit. We spoke to them on the phone yesterday morning for the first time since they flew out to California on the 19th. It was good to hear their groggy voices (Grandma woke them up to talk to us). It is going to be good to see them soon.
I cannot thank you all enough for your prayers while we were gone. God is so incredible and it was just amazing to see him at work in South Africa. It was so hard to leave, but now our task is to spread the word here in the USA, and help as best we can from afar.
