Prayer Requests

Sunday- Please be praying for me as I started to feel not so good last night at dinner.  It started with a headache, then dizziness.  I went to bed after taking some meds.  This morning I'm still feeling kind of shaky, and tummy isn't very happy.  I'm trying to eat some snack food that I brought with me.

7/11/11- Pray for us as we practice with puppets for the VBS this week.  We also have to learn two songs in Zulu, and practice our Zulu greeting.

7/5/11- Ethan's belly continues to heal and look better every day!  Thank you so much for praying for him!  Please be in prayer for us as we make the final preparations for our trip.  Especially be in prayer as we finalize our VBS materials, songs, and crafts.  We want to make sure we are doing everything to the best of our abilities.  We leave in two weeks!  :)
6/21/11- We have been through battle after battle this year with Ethan.  His belly button has leaked since he was born, and in January he went through surgery to fix this problem.  It didn't fix the problem though and so the surgeon thought it best to do another surgery.  So during spring break in April, he had another surgery where the surgeon removed his belly button.  This was a complete shock to us as the surgeon didn't tell us he was going to do that.  Since then his belly got an infection and generally has not been healing well.  In the last couple weeks we have had him back to the surgeons office where he recommended yet another surgery, and the ER, and finally to see a pediatric surgeon.  The pediatric surgeon feels that another surgery would be an extreme measure and not necessary (thank you God!!).  He says that Ethan has granulation tissue, that is basically inflamed tissue.  It is due to the bad location of his incision, being that his shirt rubs on it constantly and is being stretched and scrunched all the time.  He said that we should give it 6 months and it should heal on it's own.  We are so thankful that Ethan doesn't have to go through another surgery and that he can continue to enjoy his summer without having to worry about an open wound.  Thank you for your prayers!!

3/30/11- Update: Praise God! My mom went to see the specialist again last Friday to discuss her MRI results.  Thankfully she does not have a brain tumor!!  This is huge news!  The doctor is thinking she might have Ménière's disease.  He wants her to take a diarrhetic, avoid caffeine, and lower her sodium intake.  He will check up with her again in one month.  Hopefully these changes will help her immensely!  Just in case she is still unable to watch our children while we are in South Africa, we have John's parents lined up to fly out here if needed.

3/14/11- Update: Praise God!  My mother's doctor's appointment on Friday went really well.  She didn't realize it when she made the appointment with this specialist, but she had been there before for an MRI 6 years ago.  They still had an old computer with her MRI on it.  They did a new MRI and will be able to compare the two and see if there are any changes.  They are thinking she could possibly have a brain tumor that is causing all these problems.  6 years ago she had the MRI done because she had lost the hearing in one ear (a symptom of a brain tumor).  All her dizzy spells are another symptom.  She will go back to this specialist in two weeks to find out the results from the MRI.  In the meantime, the doctor was able to show her some exercises that she can do to help with the dizziness.

Please continue to pray for my mom, and that the doctor's would have wisdom and get to the bottom of this.  Also pray that she would not be worrying as she waits two weeks to find out the results of the MRI.

3/10/11- Update: Mom had another bad dizzy episode today. She decided to find another specialist and found one that could get her in to be seen tomorrow!  Please pray that this doctor is able to figure out what is wrong with her and get her on the path to recovery.

3/9/2011- Please be praying for my mom.  She is supposed to be flying to Michigan from Oklahoma in July to watch our three children and our dog.  However she has been having dizzy spells for the last several months, where she cannot keep her balance and cannot walk.  She is scheduled to see an ENT at the end of this month.  Please pray that the doctors will be able to figure out what the problem is and help her soon.  If her condition continues she will be unable to look after our children.
